BEEF PASTIES 
PASTRY:

3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. Crisco
1/2 c. cold water

FILLING:

1 1/2 lb. round steak (raw) cut in 1/2 inch cubes
3 potatoes cubed (peeled)
1/2 c. cubed carrots
1/2 c. chopped onions
1/2 cubed rutabaga
1/2 tsp. salt
Dash pepper
1 tbsp. butter

Mix first four ingredients and refrigerate. Stir filling ingredients together. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Divide pastry and ingredients into six sections. Roll pastry out into 9 inch round patties. Put filling on one half; fold over to make half circles. Pinch edges together, slash tops. Bake 1 hour or until light brown. (Cover with hollandaise sauce when serving for a different taste.)
