2 c. white sugar
5 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. shortening
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients twice, then mix together. Drop or roll and cut. Bake on floured cookie sheet. Frost when cool.
