MINNA'S CHUNKY VEGETABLE SOUP 
4 lg. carrots, chopped
2 onions, chopped
2 lg. sweet potatoes cut in chunks
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 parsnips cut in chunks
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 to 1 1/2 c. of mixed beans, yellow split peas, green peas, Lima beans and barley
3 or 4 meat bones

Boil meat bones for 5 to 10 minutes. Drain and run under cold water. Fill a large pot with water. Add ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for two to six hours. Add salt and pepper to taste. Frozen peas, corn and broccoli may be added near end of cooking time.
