THE BEST SUGAR COOKIES 
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. soft butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg

TOPPING:

1/4 c. sugar

Sift flour, baking soda, powder, salt and nutmeg. Set aside.

In large bowl, beat butter, sugar and egg until fluffy. At low speed beat in sour cream and vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well until combined.

With rubber scraper form a ball. Wrap in waxed paper. Refrigerate several hours.

Divide dough into four parts. Refrigerate until ready to roll out.

Preheat oven 375 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets. On well floured surface roll dough to 1/4 inch thick. With floured cutters cut out cookies. Sprinkle tops with sugar. (4 dozen cookies).
