CHICKEN PAPRIKAS WITH MUSHROOMS 
1 med. onion
1/4 lb. mushrooms, cooked and chopped
2 tbsp. shortening
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. salt
3 1/2 lbs. chicken, cut up in pieces
1 bay leaf
1 1/2 c. tomato juice
1 c. sour cream
1/2 tsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. flour

Brown onions in shortening; add cooked mushrooms. Sprinkle chicken with flour. Add chicken to the onion and mushrooms and brown; add salt, pepper, and paprika. Add bay leaf, slowly stir in the sour cream and the tomato juice. Add the vinegar; cover and simmer slowly 45 minutes or until chicken is tender. Remove bay leaf just before serving. Serve with dumplings.
