PIRATE'S STEAK 
1 (12 oz.) can beer (nonalcoholic beer may be substituted)
1/2 c. chili sauce
1/4 c. vegetable oil
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. dijon mustard
1/2 tsp. hot sauce
1/8 tsp. liquid smoke
1/2 c. coarsely chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (3 lb.) sirloin (or better cut) steak, 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick

Combine first 9 ingredients in medium saucepan; simmer 30 minutes. Brush steak with sauce (steak may be cut into 2 or 3 smaller pieces). Place on grill over medium hot coals. Grill until desired degree of doneness, basting frequently with sauce. Remove steak from grill; sprinkle with salt and pepper, if desired. Serve with remaining sauce.
