CHOCOLATE CHIP BLONDE BROWNIES 
1/3 c. shortening, melted
1 tbsp. hot water
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Chocolate chips

Add brown sugar to melted shortening and water. Cool. Add egg and vanilla and blend well. Add dry ingredients. Stir in nuts. Pour in greased 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
