1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. cinnamon
2 1/2 c. diced apples
1 egg
2 tbsp. boiling water
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. finely chopped walnuts
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. flour

Mix all ingredients, adding apples and nuts last. Pour in a 9-inch greased pie plate. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Cut as pie. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
