GINGER COOKIES 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. molasses
1 egg

Combine flour, baking soda, spices and 1/2 tsp. salt; set aside.

Beat shortening 30 seconds; add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add molasses and egg. Beat until combined. Add dry ingredients and beat on low speed until well combined.

Shape into 1 1/2-inch balls. Dip in white sugar. Arrange 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or until light brown on the bottom. Cool on wire racks.

Makes around 20 cookies.
