11 c. fat
1 can lye
6 c. cold water
2 tbsp. sugar
1 c. Borax
1/2 c. ammonia
1/2 c. boiling water

Mix lye, cold water in enamel pan until it melts. Cool to lukewarm. Add melted fat in a steady stream, stirring constantly in the same direction. Add sugar, Borax, ammonia and 1/2 cup boiling water mixture and stir until a honey consistency. Pour into a lined box. Let stand 12 hours. Use as bars or grate.
