BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour

Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread on the bottom of a spring form pan. Press crust mixture about 2 inches up the side of the pan.

FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine above ingredients and pour on top of crust.

TOPPING:

4 c. sliced fresh baking apples, peeled
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix apples with sugar and cinnamon and arrange on top of filling.

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes then turn down oven to 400 degrees for 25 minutes longer. Cool and remove from spring form pan onto serving platter.
