1 (27 oz.) can sauerkraut 1 tsp. butter 1 lg. onion, chopped 1 lg. apple, chopped 1 (10 oz.) can beef broth 1 soup can water 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes 1 lb. Polish sausage 1 (14 oz.) can mushrooms (stems and pieces) 1 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt Dash of pepper Dash of cayenne Rinse and drain sauerkraut. Melt butter in Dutch oven or large pot. Saute onion and apple. Add sauerkraut, beef broth, water and tomatoes. Cut sausage in 1-inch pieces and add to vegetables with remaining ingredients. Cover. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Makes 6 servings. |
