COCONUT-PECAN TOFFEE BARS 
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. butter, softened
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. flour

Heat oven to 350. Mix brown sugar, butter and shortening. Stir in flour. Press in ungreased 13x9x2 baking pan. Bake 10 minutes.

Spread coconut-pecan topping over baked layer. Bake until golden brown, 25 minutes. Cool, cut into bars. Makes 3 dozen.

COCONUT-PECAN TOPPING:

2 eggs
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. coconut
1 c. chopped pecans

Beat eggs; stir in remaining ingredients.
