FORGET IT BEEF CASSEROLE | |
2 1/2 -3 lbs. beef stew meat 1/2 pkg. dry onion soup mix 1 can cream of mushroom soup 3/4 can water Put meat in casserole that has a tight cover. I use a cast iron Dutch oven. Put mushroom soup, water and dry onion soup mix over meat. Cover and put in 300 degree oven for 3 hours. (P.S. In place of beef, I have used venison or veal. And sometimes add wine.) SERVE OVER BAKED RICE: 1 cups rice (brown in 2 tablespoons oil until lightly brown). Add 2 cups water in which 3 bouillon cubes have been dissolved. Cook for 1 hour or longer at 300 degrees. (I put in oven for the last hour of above casserole.) |
