1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels 1 (5 oz.) can evaporated milk 1 (18.25 oz.) pkg. German Chocolate Cake Mix 3/4 c. butter (melted) 1 lg. egg 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips 1 c. chopped pecans Combine caramels and 1/4 cup milk in small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until smooth. Set aside. Combine cake mix, butter, egg and remaining milk. Spoon 1/2 mixture into greased 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans. Spread caramel mixture on top. Spoon remaining cake mixture on top of caramel layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. Yield: 3 dozen (small squares). |
