1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. applesauce
1 c. cooked raisins

Cream shortening, add sugar and egg. Mix well. Add dry ingredients and apple sauce mixed with soda. Add raisins. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes in cookie sheet.

FROSTING:

1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. milk

Boil 3 minutes. Thicken with powdered sugar.
