MY FAVORITE BANANA BREAD 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
2 lg. eggs
1 tsp. orange peel
1 c. mashed bananas, about 2 med.
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. walnuts, chopped
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 (8 x 4 inch) loaf pans. In large bowl, with electric mixer at medium speed. Cream butter, sugar, eggs and orange peel until light and fluffy. Beat in mashed bananas. Combine flour, baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt. At low speed, gradually add flour mixture, then buttermilk; beat just until smooth. Stir in nuts and chocolate. Evenly spoon into pans. Bake 1 hour or until tester inserted in center comes out clean. Makes 2 loaves.
