PUMPKIN LAYER CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves, nutmeg, ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. oil
1 can pumpkin
3 x-lg. eggs, slightly beaten
1/4 c. raisins
1/4 c. chopped nuts

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:

4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/3 c. soft butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt
3 1/3 c. confectioners' sugar
1/4 c. raisins (opt.)
1/4 c. chopped nuts (opt.)

Blend sugar, flour, baking powder, soda, spices and salt. Add oil, beat in pumpkin. Beat well. Add eggs, beat 1 minute. Stir in raisins and nuts. Place batter in 2 pans, 9 inches, greased. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Cool in pans. Fill and frost with cream cheese frosting.
