1/2 cup soft butter
3/4 cup honey
2/3 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
4 diced apples
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2/3 cup buttermilk or yogurt
2/3 cup sunflower seeds or chopped nuts
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream together butter, honey and sugar; add eggs and beat until mixture is fluffy with electric mixer. Stir all dry ingredients together and add alternately with vanilla and buttermilk, beating as ingredients are added.

Fold in apples; stir in nuts.

Bake at 350°F in 2 greased 8-inch pans or 1 long pan, about 40 minutes or when toothpick comes out clean.
