STUFFED CABBAGE | |
1 med. cabbage 1 1/2 lb. ground beef or 1 lb. beef and 1/2 lb. pork 1 tbsp. cooking oil 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 c. cooked rice 1/4 c. chopped onion 1 can tomato soup 1 tsp. caraway seeds Clean cabbage and put it whole into large pot; cover with cold water, bring to boil and boil for 10 minutes. Drain. Mix meat, oil, salt, pepper, rice and onions well. Remove cabbage leaves, one at a time and put 2 good tablespoons of meat mixture in leaf. Roll from core end to outside of leaf. Continue until meat mixture is used. Into a large pot put any extra cabbage leaves, then arrange rolls on top. Cover with cold water almost to top of leaves, then put in a can of tomato soup and caraway seeds (optional). Cover pot, bring to boil and boil slowly for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. |
