CAROLINE'S BOILED RAISIN CAKE 
1 lb. raisins
4 c. water
4 tbsp. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg

FROSTING:

1/4 lb. butter, softened
8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
Sugar
Milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash salt

Boil for 5 minutes raisins and water. Remove from burner and add shortening. Let stand overnight. Then add sugar, salt, flour, soda, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bake in a loaf pan, bake until toothpick tests done at 350 degrees. Cool and frost with cream cheese frosting. Cream butter, cream cheese add sugar until crumbly. Then add milk 1 tbsp. at a time until consistency is right. Then add vanilla, and salt. Frost cake.
