2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 large or 3 small bananas, mashed
1/4 c. buttermilk

Grease and flour two 9-inch or one 9 x 13-inch pan. Mix together flour, baking powder and salt. In a large bowl, beat well shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla for 1 1/2 minutes. Add buttermilk to creamed mixture. Add flour mixture alternately with mashed bananas (about 3 minutes). Bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes for 9-inch or 40 to 45 minutes for 9 x 13-inch.
