WATERMELON PICKLES 
7 c. sugar
1 pt. vinegar
3 oz. red hot candies
1 tbsp. cloves in a bag
1 sm. bottle maraschino cherries with juice
1 sm. watermelon

Peel rind of melon, cut in chunks. Cover with cold water and cook about 1 1/2 hours or until nearly soft. Drain. Simmer rind in remaining ingredients 15 minutes. Remove bag of cloves. Seal hot.
