CHOCOLATE - NUT TORTE 
3 1/3 c. Basic Cake Mix
9 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. milk
2 eggs, well beaten
2 1/2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 pt. whipping cream, whipped & sweetened

TORTE TOPPING:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c. nuts, chopped

Melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat and stir in brown sugar and nuts.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease four 8 inch round cake pans. Line pans with wax paper. Butter wax paper. Divide torte topping evenly among the 4 cake pans. In large bowl, combine Basic Cake Mix and cocoa. Add 1/2 cup of the milk and beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add remaining 1/2 cup milk, eggs and butter. Beat 2 more minutes. Pour batter over Torte Topping in cake pans. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes. Cool slightly on wire racks and peel off wax paper. Cool some more. Stack and frost with whipped cream between layers and on top. Makes 1 torte.
