WHITE SOAP | |
Nostalgia - When I was a young child, I always looked forward to my visits with my great grandmother because we got to make soap. It was even more fun to draw designs on the soap too. 1 can lye 1 qt. water 2 1/2 qt. melted grease or lard, strained 1 c. ammonia 4 tbsp. borax Dissolve lye in water. Leave the mixture until it is lukewarm. Mix lye solution, grease, ammonia and borax in a large iron kettle. Beat the mixture until stiff. Pour into a large square enamel pan and cut before completely hard. Store in a cool place for at least four weeks before using. |
