CORNFLAKE COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening (1/2 butter, 1/2 butter - I use all butter)
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. cornflakes, not crushed
1/2 c. pecans

Cream sugar and shortening. Sift flour, soda and cream of tartar add to sugar mixture. Add vanilla, cornflakes and nuts. Roll in balls, press down with fork dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. May add candied citrus fruit in center if desired.
