1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
1/2 c. nuts
2 eggs
1 c. raisins
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, creaming continually. Add applesauce, chopped nuts, eggs, raisins and mix well. Then fold in sifted dry ingredients. Drop from spoon on cookie sheet and bake in oven at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
