BEEF AND CHEESE BAKE 
1 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/3 can milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tomato, diced or green pepper (if desired)
1 c. macaroni
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 c. butter
1/3 c. milk

Brown ground beef and onion (drain excess fat); add some milk, salt and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes. While above is simmering add 1 cup macaroni to 6 cups boiling salted water, stirring occasionally until tender. Drain. In same pan combine 1/4 cup butter, 1/3 cup milk to macaroni. Stir until butter is melted. Add cheese and stir again until cheese is partially melted. Pour ground beef mixture into a 2 quart baking dish. Top with macaroni and cheese. Then tomato or green pepper. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serves 6.
