CHERRY SQUARES 
2 sticks butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 can cherry pie filling

Blend butter and vanilla in bowl. Add sugar and eggs, beating in one at a time. Add flour, salt and baking powder until smooth.

Save 1 cup batter for top and spread rest of dough in 11x27 inch jelly roll pan which has been greased and floured. Spread cherry pie filling over dough. Spoon the remaining dough in little islands on the cherry topping.

Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes. When slightly cool, dribble powdered sugar frosting on top. Cut in squares and serve.
