2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening (Blue Bonnet)
2 large eggs
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
1 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
4 to 5 c. flour (I used 4 1/2 c.)

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Put soda in buttermilk and dissolve. Mix dry ingredients. Make into balls. Drop in flour and "pat" out. Place on greased baking sheet; bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 350°F.
