BAKING POWDER BISCUITS 
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. Calumet baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk

Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Stir in milk with fork until soft dough is formed. Turn out on floured board and knead about 20 times. Roll 1/2 inch thick; cut with floured cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes 16 biscuits.

I don't like to use shortening, but I have noticed that all baking powder biscuit recipes call for it. What happens if butter is used instead?
