P'S TOFFEE SQUARES 
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. butter, softened
3 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. brown sugar (in 2 parts)
3/4 c. butter
3/4 to 1 c. semi-sweet milk chocolate bits

In mixing bowl, combine flour, butter, milk, soda, nuts, salt and 1/4 cup brown sugar; blend together until crumbly. Press firmly into an ungreased 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Prick all over with a fork.

In a saucepan combine 3/4 cup butter with 3/4 cup brown sugar; mix well. Bring to boil; boil for 3 minutes. Pour over crumbly base. Bake 5 minutes at 375 degrees. Let stand 10 minutes. Spread chocolate chips over top, when softened spread to ice. Cut into squares. Worth the trouble!
