2 c. cold water
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. lard
1/2 box raisins
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice

Boil the water, sugar, lard and spices together for 5 minutes. Cool. Add 3 cups flour, 2 teaspoons soda and 1 teaspoon baking powder. Mix all ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour in a 9"x13" pan. Frost with a butter frosting or cream cheese frosting.
