FILBERT OR HICKORY NUT CAKE 
1 1/2 c. oatmeal
2 c. boiling water
1 1/2 c. white sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. oil
3 eggs
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. Filbert or Hickory nuts

Put oats in small bowl; add boiling water. Let stand 10 minutes. Combine sugars, oil, and eggs thoroughly. Stir in oatmeal. Mix well; sift flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon together. Stir in filberts; put into cake pan. Bake 50 to 60 minutes.

FROSTING:

1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. milk (evaporated)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 c. coconut

Cream butter and brown sugar. Add milk and vanilla, stirring until smooth. Add filberts and coconut. Broil 2 to 4 minutes until lightly browned.
