ESSIE'S CARAMEL ICING 
3 c. sugar
1 tbsp. Karo syrup
3/4 c. butter (1 1/2 sticks)
3/4 c. of canned evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, evaporated milk, Karo syrup and butter in a pot. Bring to a boil. Cook on medium heat for 4 to 6 minutes after it comes to a boil. Stir constantly. Remove from heat and place pot in cold water for a few minutes.

Add vanilla. Stir and spread on cake fast.
