1 box yellow or white cake mix
1 lg. box Jello (strawberry or cherry)
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. strawberry or cherry soda
1 lg. container Cool Whip

Prepeare cake according to package directions, baking in a rectangular pan. Cool in pan. After cooling, punch holes all over cake. Mix Jello with boiling water. Dissolve Jello completely. Add soda and mix thoroughly. Pour mixture over cake evenly and let cool. Top with Cool Whip.
