SOFT GINGER DROPS 
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 c. molasses
4 1/2 c. flour
1 c. boiling water
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves

Combine shortening, sugar, egg and molasses; mix well. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with water, stirring until smooth. Drop by teaspoonfuls on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 8-10 minutes. Cool on racks then frost with lemon glaze.

LEMON GLAZE:

2 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. soft butter
1 tsp. lemon extract
3 tbsp. milk or water
3 drops yellow food color (optional)

Combine ingredients and beat until smooth. Spread on cooled cookies.
