MOLASSES GINGER COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Melt shortening over low heat. Cool and add sugar, molasses, and eggs; beat well. Sift together dry ingredients and add to the first mixture. Mix well and chill. Form into 1 inch balls; roll in sugar. Place on greased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake in a 375 degree oven 8-10 minutes. Makes 3 dozen.
