EGG AND CHEESE PUFF 
16 slices white bread (sandwich)
Butter
1/2 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
1 med. onion, sliced
6 eggs, well beaten
1 qt. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. white pepper

Trim crust from bread and butter each slice. Arrange 8 slices buttered side down in bottom of a well-oiled baking dish (9 x 13 inches). Cover bread with cheese and onion. Top with remaining slices of bread buttered side up. Combine eggs, milk, salt and pepper. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove foil, place in pan of hot water. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 1 hour or until puffed and lightly brown on top. Serve immediately. Great for overnight guests.
