COLD OVEN POUND CAKE 
2 sticks butter (or 1 stick butter plus 1 stick butter)
1/4 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract

Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add one egg at a time. Sift flour with baking powder; add alternately with milk and flavorings. Place in greased pan in cold oven. Set oven at 325°F and bake 1 hour and 30 minutes. Do not open door while baking.

NOTE: If desired, 1 1/2 tsp. lemon may be used for flavoring.

I prefer lemon juice along with the vanilla flavoring. Have tried lots of recipes and this one is the best by a long shot!
