MEATBALLS AND TOMATO SAUCE OVER
RICE
 
Serves 6.

1 pkg. dehydrated onion soup
1 1/4 c. water
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/8 to 1/4 tsp. thyme
Pepper to taste
Rice

Combine onion soup, water and 3/4 of tomato sauce in covered saucepan; bring to a boil, then lower heat to simmer for 10 minutes. Mix together meat, seasonings, and remaining tomato sauce. Shape into balls and drop into sauce. Simmer gently, uncovered, for 30 minutes, turning meatballs occasionally. Serve over fluffy cooked rice.
