BEANS AND BARLEY SOUP 
2 lbs. soup meat
3/4 bag fine barley
1 bag lg. lima beans
Garlic powder
Salt and pepper
2 carrots (cut into fine pieces)
2 stalks celery (cut into fine pieces)

Put lima beans into a boiling water. Let soak. In the meantime, rinse barley until water is clear. Shell lima beans. Place into large soup pot: soup meat, fine barley, lima beans, carrots and celery. Add water until it is at least 3 inches above items in pot. Add seasoning to taste.

Cook over low heat until lima beans are dissolved. (Should be about 5-6 hours.) Stir, making sure soup doesn't stick.
