2 whole lemons, grated with seeds removed
1 egg
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. dark Karo syrup
1 c. boiling water
3 pie shells, unbaked
White or yellow cake mix, mixed according to pkg. directions

Mix grated lemons, egg, sugar, syrup and boiling water together. Divide into 3 pie shells. Top each pie with cake batter. Bake pies 30 minutes at 350 degrees, checking cake top for doneness.
