SOUR CREAM APPLE PIE 
1 (9-inch) unbaked pastry shell
2 c. sliced peeled tart apples
1/3 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 c. sour cream
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

TOPPING;
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. soft butter

Prepare pastry shell; set aside. Put apples in heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat (without water), stirring occasionally, until tender. Reserve 4 slices for garnish.

Mash remaining apples slightly; mix sugar and flour. Gently stir into apples. Put into shell. Beat together sour cream, egg and vanilla; pour over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Sprinkle topping around edges of pie. Add apple slices in center. Bake 10 minutes longer. Cool slightly to serve.
