MAMA'S STACK CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
3-4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
About 1 c. shortening
About 4 to 4 1/2 c. plain flour

FILLING AND TOPPING:

Sweetened cooked apples with a little cinnamon or canned applesauce with a little cinnamon

Mix sugar, salt, baking powder, shortening, eggs, milk, and vanilla together then add flour to make like cookie dough. Divide dough into 6-7 balls. Using round cake pans or iron skillet on burner on top of stove melt shortening so pan will be greased. Pat a ball with fingers until spread in pan. Dough will appear thin and layers will be thin after baking. Be sure to keep hand greased so dough won't stick to you. Bake 10 minutes. Turn on plate and spread apples on and keep stacking, ending with apples.
