SPRITZ COOKIES 
1 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. flour

Cream butter until soft. Add gradually, gradually adding in egg, vanilla and salt. Beat well. Add 2 cups of flour, a small amount at a time. Add remaining 1/2 cup of flour and work this in with hands. Pack dough into cookie press. Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Bake until edges are slightly browned.

Variation: Place cookie dough, rolled into 1 inch balls, on a cookie sheet. Using a small glass dipped in sugar, flatten until cookie edges just begin to split. Bake until edges brown slightly.
