1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, flour and vanilla. Put dough the size of a quarter on cookie sheet, greased. Drop from teaspoon - make sure they are small. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-12 minutes.
