SPICED CRANBERRY PUNCH 
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1/4 c. cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
2 qt. cranberry juice cocktail
1 (46 oz.) orange grapefruit, chilled
1 (46 oz.) pineapple juice, chilled
1/2 c. lemon juice
2 qt. ginger ale, chilled

Combine first 4 ingredients in a saucepan; bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat; let cool completely. Strain but do not throw away clove and cinnamon.

To serve: Combine sugar mixture, fruit juices and ginger ale in large punch bowl. Yield 7 quarts. I have reused my cinnamon - clove mixture at least 4 times without harming the flavor. The best part is the house smells wonderful for hours. Also great hot!
