CALIFORNIA CASSEROLE | |
8 oz. pkg. egg noodles 3/4 c. chopped onions 3/4 c. chopped green peppers 2 lb. ground beef 4 oz. can tomato sauce 10 1/2 oz. can tomato soup 8 oz. can pitted olives, diced 4 oz. jar pimentos, diced 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. chili powder 1/8 tsp. black pepper 1 sm. can sliced mushrooms 1 c. sharp Cheddar cheese Cook noodles and drain. Saute onions and peppers in 1/4 cup of shortening or salad oil. Add ground beef and saute until brown. Add the remaining ingredients. Layer cooked noodles and meat mixture in 2 quart casserole. Sprinkle top with cheese. Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Freezes well and can be divided into 2 (1 quart) casseroles. Yield: Serves 10-12. |
