STOLLEN 
2 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. mace
1/8 tsp. cardamon
1/4 c. raisins
1/4 lb. butter
1 c. (1/2 pt.) sm. curd cottage cheese
1 egg
2 tbsp. rum
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/4 c. candied mixed fruit

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, mace and cardamon. Cut in butter with pastry blender. In a small bowl, combine cottage cheese, egg, rum and vanilla. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in walnuts, raisins and fruit. Add to flour mixture until moistened. Form dough into a ball. On a lightly floured board, knead slightly (about 10 turns).

On a floured board, roll dough to for an 8 x 10 inch oval. Lightly crease dough just off center, parallel to the 10 inch side. Brush dough with 1 teaspoon melted butter. Fold smaller section over larger on crease.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover ungreased baking sheet with brown paper. Bake for 45 minutes or until done. Brush with 2 teaspoons melted butter after baking. If desired, after brushing with 2 teaspoons melted butter, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar over the top.
